Dr. Ian Tho

Dr. Tho has delivered strategic customer insights and intelligence for corporate clients, government organisations and educational institutions for over 25 years. He currently leads the national customer analytics practice for Azurium, the management advisory arm of Ferrier Hodgson. Prior to joining Azurium, Ian was Head of Customer Analytics at the Coles Group (Wesfarmers Limited), and honorary Adjunct Professor of Business at RMIT University. Ian authored and published a book in the United Kingdom titled Managing the Risks of IT Outsourcing, illustrating practical insights on managing risks from intelligence gleaned from actual case studies of data trends and patterns from a number of ASX-50 organisations. His special interests are in semiotics, pattern recognition and predictive analytics. He served on a number of academic councils including Chair of the Program Advisory Council at RMIT University, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Justin Grey

Justin Grey is Managing Editor of Inside Retail. Appointed to the role in June 2015, Justin manages all of Octomedia’s Inside Retail digital and print publications in Australia and New Zealand and works to further grow Inside Retail as the leading retail trade media brand in Australia and beyond. Justin has held senior editorial roles on various publications, both B2B and consumer titles, since 2007. Prior to joining Octomedia, he was most recently Editor of My Business, a position he held for more than three years. He also has experience working on aviation, defence, corporate security, and arts/lifestyle publications. He is based in Sydney.


Gordon Renouf

CEO Good On You

The Good On You app, launched November 2015, helps users make fashion choices that match their values. The app provides an ethical rating for nearly 1,000 clothing, footwear and accessory brands taking into account what they are doing to minimize their impact on people, the planet and animals. The app lists the closest retailers for each brand, suggests similar, better rated brands, and provides users with a way to give feedback to brands.

Before founding Good On You Gordon worked as the Director of Policy and Campaigns at leading consumer organisation CHOICE. He has served on the Council of Consumers International – the international peak consumer body, and as a member of the Commonwealth Consumers Affairs Ministerial Advisory Council.

In March 2016 Gordon will give the Annual Ruby Hutchison Memorial Lecture on the subject of ethical consumption.


Gareth Jude

Retail Industry Executive, Telstra

Gareth has spent most of his career in retail including 2 years as CEO of an Australian sporting goods retailer and 7 years in the DSE division of Woolworth’s responsible for group wide merchandise management, marketing and store planning. In addition Gareth has consulted to retailers and taught retail at Sydney, Macquarie and Shanghai Jiao Tong Universities. He was appointed Retail Industry Executive in Telstra’s Global Industries team in 2011.


Dr. Violet Lazarevic

Violet is a senior research consultant at the ACRS, Monash Business School. Violet’s role at ACRS is leading external engagement and managing and conducting research projects. Her commercial research experience spans consumer and business-based issues through qualitative and quantitative methods. Violet’s PhD in Marketing investigated the effects of outsourcing logistics services on branding and ethical integration outcomes. Violet has presented retail research in Australia and published in several retail industry publications. She also regularly blogs on retail, marketing and research related issues.
